Casablanca Bans Russian Ride-Hailing App Yango for Operating Without License

The prefecture of the Casablanca region has banned the mobile application of the Russian VTC service Yango, which has been on trial since last April in the region. The service would be operating without authorization and in violation of the regulations in force in the field of transport.
The Yango mobile application "has started to organize, promote and offer passenger transport services in Casablanca without having any prior authorization or license, and by using unauthorized vehicles as well as non-professional drivers," the press release from the prefecture of the Casablanca region states.
The authorities of the region specify that to date, "no entity has been authorized to carry out this type of activity," reminding VTC drivers "doing business with unauthorized passenger transport companies" that they are exposed to "administrative and legal sanctions provided for in the framework of the regulations and supervision of the conditions for the exercise of public passenger transport services."
