Casablanca Bans Animal-Drawn Carts and Livestock in Urban Areas

The Casablanca municipal council has banned the movement of draft animals and carts in the metropolis. This measure applies to various areas such as public roads, green spaces, vacant lots or parks in the city.
In addition to this ban, the decision prohibits the installation of stables dedicated to animals, livestock and cattle in the urban area. Any concentration of animals for sale, except in specially designated places and with prior authorization, is also prohibited. Similarly, the breeding or sale of livestock in residential areas without authorization is now punishable by fines.
Vehicles drawn by animals, whether two-wheeled or four-wheeled, are no longer allowed in the city. Prohibition signs will be installed in all the prefectures of Casablanca. Any violation of these directives will result in sanctions: seizure of animals and carts, fines, or even the public auction of the animals.
In case of an offense, the owners of stray animals will be held responsible for the damage caused and will have to pay various fees. They have a 10-day deadline to recover their seized property, subject to the payment of the associated fees. In case of recidivism, the animals and vehicles seized will be definitively confiscated.
