Casablanca Authorities Demolish Illegal Mall Construction, Order Rebuild

A mall under construction was razed in Casablanca for non-compliance with urban planning rules. The authorities then decided to demolish the buildings and ordered their reconstruction according to the plans initially established.
Alerted, an inspection commission composed of officials from the wilaya and the Urban Agency rushed to the site to note the violation of urban planning rules. According to Assabah, the infractions to the urban planning regulations in these buildings were not limited to the construction plan but also to the land use.
Following these findings, a meeting was organized at the headquarters of the Urban Agency in the presence of representatives of the local authorities and officials from the General Inspectorate of the Ministry of the Interior. Unanimously, the participants in this meeting decided to raze the mall before going to the site to note the infractions and supervise the demolition operation.
Furthermore, the people involved in these infractions within the plan, wilaya, prefecture and municipal services should soon be held accountable for their actions.
