Car sales in Morocco: Luxury brands are booming, others are collapsing

Despite a gloomy economic climate and an overall decline in car sales in Morocco in February, luxury brands seem to be holding their own.
The statistics published by the Association of Car Importers in Morocco (AIVAM) reveal an astonishing performance of high-end brands. Indeed, Audi, BMW, Lexus and Porsche all show significant growth in their sales since the beginning of the year.
Audi experienced a spectacular increase of 29.08%, going from 588 to 759 units sold. BMW is not to be outdone, with an increase of 28.74%, selling 533 cars against 414. Lexus made a leap of 116.67%, going from 12 to 26 units sold. Porsche also shows growth of 56.67%, with 94 units sold against 60.
While luxury brands are shining, other less prestigious manufacturers are struggling to escape the turbulence shaking the Moroccan automotive market.
Mercedes recorded a slight decline of 3.97%, with 484 cars sold against 504. Land Rover experienced a more pronounced drop of 8.72%, going from 149 to 136 units sold. Jeep suffered the most severe plunge, with a 39.82% drop in sales. Jaguar is relatively better off, with only one unit less sold (18 against 19).
AIVAM announced that the total sales of new cars in Morocco reached 10,765 units in February 2024, a decrease of 9.26% compared to last year.
