Cape Verdean and Spanish Athletes Crowned World Kitesurf Champions in Dakhla

At the end of the 10th edition of the "Prince Moulay El Hassan Kite world Cup" 2019 world kite-surfing championship, Cape Verdean Airton Cozzolino and Spaniard Carla Herrera won the world championship in the strapless event on Sunday, October 13, in Dakhla.
The 6th stage of the strapless GKA Kite-surf World Tour, held in Dakhla from October 4 to 13, saw the crowning of Cape Verdean Airton Cozzolino and Spaniard Carla Herrera.
In a statement to MAP, the Cape Verdean said he was moved to have won this championship against "great world champions". His wish, he said, is to participate in the competition next year.
For Airton Cozzolino, Cape Verde is geographically close to Morocco, which is a hospitable country. For her part, the Spanish Herrera said she was happy with the "very pleasant atmosphere and excellent wind and wave conditions".
Initiated by the Lagon Dakhl Association, in collaboration with the Wilaya, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the GKA (Global Kitesports Association), the Royal Moroccan Sailing Federation and the World Sailing Federation, this major sporting event brought together nearly 100 of the best international competitors in the two disciplines, Freestyle and Strapless.
