World’s Top Surfers to Compete at Morocco’s Pro Taghazout Bay QS5,000 Event

From January 25 to February 1, the Taghazout resort will see the world’s greatest surfing champions pass through its coasts. This is within the framework of the Pro Taghazout Bay which will be held at Pointe des Ancres.
This first edition of the World Surf League qualification phase is strongly supported by the Royal Moroccan Surfing Federation, the Souss Massa Region, the Moroccan National Tourist Office, Afriquia Gaz, and about ten companies. Indeed, classified as QS5,000, the second most important category of the Qualifying Series in 2020, the Pro Taghazout Bay is one of the most anticipated competitions on the calendar, alongside Pipeline in Hawaii, Hainan Island in China, and Fernando De Noronha in Brazil.
This year, the Pro Taghazout Bay will see the participation of Kanoa Igarashi (JPN), Frederico Morais (PRT) and surfing star Kai Lenny (HAW). As for Morocco, all hopes are placed in Ramzi Boukhiam, considered the best professional surfer in the kingdom.
Currently, he holds the position of 2013 junior world vice-champion, and remains serene from recent victories on the Qualifying Series of Zarautz, Anglet and Lacanau. He will not be alone in facing the waves, on the Moroccan side. He will be accompanied by Redouane Regragui, Aboubakar Bouaouda, Selyann Zouhir and Neil Aboufiras, as well as Othmane Choufani and Abdel El Harim, to name but a few Moroccan surfers.
The President of the Royal Moroccan Surfing Federation, Mohammed Kadmiri, thanked the civic-minded companies that are supporting the event, before adding that "surfing is a major attraction for the region, for cultural and tourism management".
The event is of paramount importance for the development and promotion company of the Taghazout resort, which is counting on the organization of sporting events to make known the wonders it contains.
