CAN 2025 in Morocco: a concern with the dates

The president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Fouzi Lekjaa, has again spoken about the date of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, stating that the competition will not take place "at the same time as the Club World Cup".
"I’ve already told you that the Africa Cup of Nations in our country will not be held at the same time as the Club World Cup. There are many players who can participate in both competitions: Achraf (Hakimi), Brahim (Diaz)... So we won’t organize a competition in parallel that these stars won’t be able to attend," Fouzi Lekjaa said in an interview with the Spanish newspaper Marca.
And he continued: "Either we do it after the Club World Cup, or we do it at another date to allow a full celebration of African football." Reacting at the end of February to a rumor that the 2025 CAN would take place from July 20 to August 17, Veron Mosengo-Omba, the Secretary General of the Confederation of African Football, supported that no date had yet been set.
