CAN 2025 : Attention, these items are prohibited from entering Morocco
A few days before the kick-off of the Africa Cup of Nations, the Moroccan customs administration is launching an information campaign for the thousands of supporters expected as of this Sunday. Prohibited drones, currency ceilings and tolerances : here is the practical guide to avoid unpleasant surprises at the borders.
As Morocco prepares to vibrate to the rhythm of African football, Customs has published a specific brochure to facilitate the arrival of fans while reminding them of the red lines not to be crossed. The most sensitive point concerns aerial filming equipment: the import of drones is strictly prohibited without prior authorization. Travelers in possession of these devices must imperatively declare them upon arrival to the customs services to avoid immediate confiscation.
On the financial side, the regulations are just as precise. Travelers carrying foreign currency with a countervalue equal to or greater than 100,000 dirhams are required to submit a declaration. Regarding the local currency, vigilance is required: the import and export of Moroccan banknotes are capped at a limit of 2,000 dirhams.
Finally, to facilitate the daily life of visitors, the administration has clarified its tolerances. Medicines are accepted upon presentation of a prescription, and pets can enter the territory with their up-to-date health documents. Manufactured and ready-to-eat food products also benefit from an easy passage for the personal needs of travelers.
