Call Centers Lead Job Growth in Morocco Amid Pandemic, IT and Banking Follow

The sector that has recruited the most in 2020 in Morocco despite the health crisis is that of call centers. It is followed by IT operators and banks, which have also hired, but prioritizing entry-level profiles.
"Out of the 75,316 positions opened on the job board last year, 50,883 concerned call centers, or nearly 68%," said L’Économiste. Thus, call centers have taken advantage of the rise of telework and the use by some clients, including e-commerce, of outsourced customer relationship management. In 2020, the "call center professions" function accounted for about 63% of job openings, followed by the IT/electronics function, with 22% of job openings, and banking/finance, 4%, the newspaper details.
For the call center sector’s offer, due to the decrease in recruiters’ costs and although seniors, especially those who lost their jobs due to the health crisis, are struggling to find a new job, entry-level job seekers have been the most recruited, accounting for 57% of offers, compared to 11% of openings for job seekers with 3 to 5 years of experience and 8% for those with 5 to 10 years of experience.
However, in the IT sector, professionals with 3 to 10 years of experience account for 55% of creations. Furthermore, in 2020, employers were flexible on diplomas. Thus, bac+ 4 represented only 23% of job creations, compared to 88% in 2019. Bac+3 and below accounted for three-quarters of creations. However, IT has been more strict on diplomas, with two-thirds of openings targeting bac+5. But in general, due to the health crisis, job creation decreased by 30% in 2020 compared to 2019, despite a 4% growth in December, the economic daily points out.
