CAF Official Suspended for 5 Years After Sexual Assault Allegation at African Nations Championship

A Moroccan, an official of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), filed a complaint against the regional body’s media officer, Beninese journalist Sohounde Peperipé, whom she accuses of sexual assault. CAF has suspended the accused for five years.
A major scandal is breaking out in the middle of the African Nations Championship in Algeria. Beninese Félix Sohoundé Pépéripé is accused of sexually assaulting a CAF official. The alleged victim is a Moroccan. She claims that the CAF media officer, Sohounde Peperipé, invited her to his hotel room in Algiers and would have sexually assaulted her, reports The Guardian. After the assault, she filed a complaint with the Algerian police.
Following these accusations, the CAF Disciplinary Committee has suspended the Beninese sports journalist for a period of 5 years from all football-related activities. Sohoundé Pépéripé would have already returned to Benin.
