CAF Leans Towards North Africa for 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Host

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) would already have an idea of the country that will host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN).
Five countries have submitted their candidacy to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, after the withdrawal of Guinea which does not have the infrastructure suitable for such a competition. These are Morocco, Algeria, Zambia and a duo composed of Nigeria and Benin, according to the magazine Jeune Afrique.
Thus, CAF would lean more towards a country with serious experience in organizing the CAN. "According to our information, the 2025 CAN will take place in North Africa and therefore, in Morocco or Algeria," reveals the magazine. On its website, the pan-African magazine explains that "the 2022 CAN took place in Cameroon and the 2024 edition will take place in Côte d’Ivoire. CAF therefore wishes to play the alternation by organizing the next competition in North Africa, even if it means choosing a sub-Saharan country for 2027".
Jeune Afrique points out that CAF’s choice would be explained by the fact that Algeria and Morocco have "all the necessary infrastructure to host a 24-team final phase". To this must be added the rather pleasant climatic conditions, unlike those of sub-Saharan Africa.
Morocco and Algeria find themselves engaged in a new duel in terms of organizing a continental competition. The verdict will be known on February 10, on the sidelines of the FIFA Club World Cup which will be held in Morocco from February 1 to 11.
