Brussels Exhibition Showcases Diversity of Muslim Life in Belgium

Since February 19 and until March 13, Géopolis, a cultural space located in the heart of Brussels, is presenting the exhibition "Mosaic, meeting citizens of Muslim traditions, cultures and origins", a photographic investigation by the De Vizu collective.
The work that is the subject of an exhibition lasted three years, and was carried out by Viviane Stevens, Bénédicte Thomas, Véronique Vercheval. They photographed citizens with Muslim roots, in Wallonia and Brussels.
A real foray into the daily life of these citizens, to shine the spotlight on their work, celebrations, youth and elders, living environments that are bearers of culture and roots, and to try to understand how they live their traditions, their religion, the various misunderstandings and tensions they sometimes face in silence.
The photographers also looked at Muslim citizens who had to renounce religion, and the consequences this choice may have had on their lives. According to them, this work aims to break certain clichés, to highlight the full diversity of people and groups of people related to this culture.
