UN-Brokered Talks on Western Sahara Resume in Geneva with Morocco, Polisario Front

The Moroccan delegation is to participate today and tomorrow in Geneva in a new round table on the Sahara at the invitation of the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General.
As during the first round table, the Polisario, Algeria and Mauritania will also participate, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a press release which recalls that it is being held in accordance with the provisions of the last resolution (2440) of the Security Council, adopted on October 31, 2018, and which stipulates that the purpose of the political process is to "reach a realistic, pragmatic and lasting solution based on compromise".
According to this resolution, the parties are encouraged to "work constructively with the Personal Envoy, in a spirit of compromise, throughout the duration of the process, so that it succeeds".
In addition to Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, the Moroccan delegation includes Omar Hilale, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Morocco to the United Nations in New York, Sidi Hamdi Ould Errachid, President of the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region, Yenja El Khattat, President of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, and Fatima El Adli, an associative actor and member of the Municipal Council of the city of Smara.
