British-Moroccan Rower Moe Sbihi Shines Among UK’s Top Arab Achievers

Moroccan Mohamed Sbihi is one of the British personalities who make the Arab community in the United Kingdom proud. This community has 230,556 members (2011 census). They have contributed to the development of art, culture, politics and food for many years.
The New Arab has compiled a list featuring some of the great British Arab names to celebrate and highlight their achievements. Mohammed Sbihi, also known as Moe Sbihi, is on this list. Born in Kingston upon Thames to a British mother and a Moroccan father, Moe Sbihi is a British athlete. He has been competing in rowing competitions since the age of 15 and has won several gold medals at the World Rowing Championships. In 2012, he represented the United Kingdom at the London Olympics, where he won a bronze medal. In 2016: another feat. He won a gold medal in the men’s coxless four event at the Rio Olympics. In 2020, Moe also participated in the Tokyo Olympics, where he became the first British Muslim to carry the British flag during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
Another name among these British Arab personalities: Roula Khalaf. Born in Beirut, Lebanon, Roula is a Lebanese journalist. She grew up there during the civil war, studied in the United States, then obtained a degree from Syracuse University and Columbia University in New York. She began her career as a writer for Forbes magazine in New York. Later, she became a correspondent for North Africa for the Financial Times, its editor for the Middle East and, recently, the first woman editor in 131 years of its existence. Her professionalism has earned her several awards, including the ’Peace Through Media Award’.
Layla Michelle Moran. Born in Hammersmith on September 12, 1982, she is a Liberal Democrat politician of Palestinian origin. Member of Parliament for Oxford West and Abingdon since the 2017 general election, she was re-elected in 2019. She has been the Liberal Democrats’ spokesperson for foreign affairs and international development since 2020. Layla Michelle Moran is the first openly pansexual British MP.
