A British millionaire chooses Morocco for his marriage proposal
The charm of the Kingdom has once again worked its magic. Steven Bartlett, the famous British entrepreneur and star of the TV show "Dragons’ Den", has chosen Morocco to get down on one knee. On Christmas Day, he proposed to his long-term partner, Melanie Lopes.
This is a modern fairy tale being written under the Moroccan sun. The host of the hit podcast The Diary of a CEO, whose fortune is estimated at £320 million, took advantage of the end-of-year holidays in the Kingdom to make his proposal. According to those close to the couple, he offered Melanie a "huge diamond ring", sealing their union in a romantic setting on December 25th.
The lucky recipient, Melanie Lopes, is a 33-year-old Franco-Portuguese entrepreneur specializing in yoga and "breathwork". The couple, who divide their time between London and Los Angeles, seem to have found their balance after a tumultuous history.
Their path to the altar has not been a straight one. After meeting on Instagram in 2016, they had briefly separated because Steven, by his own admission, prioritized his business empire over his private life. "I had a total tunnel vision... I didn’t realize there was someone else outside of my business," he confessed in 2022.
But love was stronger. To win her back, the millionaire did not hesitate to fly to Bali, where Melanie was running a yoga retreat. Today, a spokesperson for the couple confirms that they are "very, very happy" and that they are now preparing for their wedding, buoyed by this milestone reached in Morocco.
