Sandstorm Aids Bank Heist in Morocco: Over $20,000 Stolen in Bir Jdid

The city center of Bir Jdid was deserted on Tuesday, due to the sandstorm that hit the entire region. Individuals took advantage of the weather conditions to dig a 60 cm diameter hole in the rear facade of the agency.

According to Andaluspress, 150,000 Moroccan dirhams and nearly 90,000 in foreign currency were stolen during this operation. An arrest warrant has been issued against the perpetrators of the burglary.

The incident, continues the same source, prompted the arrival of a unit of the scientific and technical police, a special brigade of the national security and the Public Prosecutor’s Office near the court of first instance.
