Brain Drain: Thousands of Skilled Moroccan Professionals Migrate to France

Data on the migration of Moroccan executives is worrying the Ministry of Employment and Professional Integration.
In Parliament, the Minister of Employment and Professional Integration, Mohamed Amakraz, hammered that no contract on the recruitment of Moroccan skills abroad has been signed by Morocco since 2015.
In total, 7,820 Moroccans have left their country for France by the end of September, including 1,529 as part of economic migration, according to statistics from the French Office of Immigration and Integration.
The minister, for his part, points an accusing finger at the recruitment agencies, specialized in the hunt for Moroccan executives. The government has not signed any contracts on the recruitment of Moroccan skills abroad since 2015, he claims.
However, no strategy has been developed by Amakraz’s ministry to curb the migration of Moroccan skills.
Statistics show that nearly 600 engineers, trained by Morocco, leave the Kingdom each year. In addition, according to a study of 3,000 Moroccan executives, 56% of respondents complain about working conditions and "meager" salaries.
