Brahim Diaz World Cup ambition Morocco Lions Atlas
Called up to compete in the World Cup under Mohamed Ouahbi’s orders, Brahim Diaz displays his ambitions. The playmaker dreams of bringing Morocco its first world title, relying on the unique identity of the Lions of the Atlas.
The Real Madrid striker will take on the role of leader of the Moroccan national team during this major tournament. After winning the Africa Cup this winter following Senegal’s disqualification, the player approaches the competition with absolute confidence, putting behind him his missed penalty in extra time during that same African final. During an exchange with DAZN media, he detailed the philosophy that makes his team’s strength: "We play street football. You go out to have fun, you connect with your teammate, you do one-twos, one-on-one… We can accomplish great things".

This supreme ambition crowns the decisive career choice he made in March 2024. Frustrated by the lack of opportunities with the Spanish team, whose youth selections he had attended, the Madrid player ultimately opted for Moroccan fervor. He now aims to guide a historic generation that had reached the semi-finals in Qatar in 2022, eliminating Spain and Portugal along the way before falling to France. Ironically, Spanish coach Luis de la Fuente will approach this new world meeting without having called up a single Real Madrid player.
