Brahim Díaz criticized in Spain for thanking King Mohammed VI

Welcomed as a hero in Morocco whose colors he will now defend, Brahim Díaz took the time to thank King Mohammed VI for his "support". This gesture has annoyed part of the Spanish press.
When he got off the plane at Salé airport on Monday, Brahim Diaz said he was "very happy and proud" to play for Morocco. The 24-year-old player particularly thanked King Mohammed VI "for the support he has given me, as well as Moroccan football and the federation," reports El Desmarque.
"I see a lot of football fans, and I will thank them on the pitch where I will put Morocco at the top. I am proud to be here, you can see on my face how happy I am and I will give everything on the pitch to make the whole country proud, to make my family proud and to make Morocco grow. I want to thank the federation, the president and especially His Majesty the King for this welcome," Diaz said.
These statements were received in various ways in Spain. While Spanish internet users found it "very strange that Brahim Díaz thanked the King of Morocco so many times," Moroccans, on the other hand, regretted that the native of Malaga spoke in Spanish and that the transcription of his remarks was done in French and not in Arabic.
The Real Madrid star will make his debut with the Moroccan team on Friday, March 22 against Angola in a friendly match. He will also play the match against Mauritania, scheduled for Tuesday, March 26. Both matches will take place at the Grand Stade d’Agadir.
