Hakim Ziyech comes to train at Wydad with a bailiff; no one is there to meet him

The standoff between Hakim Ziyech and Wydad has now taken a legal turn. On Tuesday, the Moroccan international went to the Mohamed Benjelloun complex with a bailiff tasked with officially recording his presence and the conditions under which his training session was supposed to take place.

The player had nevertheless followed the program that had been communicated to him. Left out of the squad that went to Agadir for its training camp, he was supposed to remain in Casablanca and attend individual sessions under the supervision of a fitness coach.

But when he arrived, no member of the technical staff was reportedly present to take charge of the session, Radio Mars reports. The bailiff was therefore able to record the situation and draw up an official report.

This step is far from insignificant. The document could allow Ziyech to demonstrate that he did attend the training sessions imposed by his employer and that he fulfilled his contractual obligations should the conflict be brought before the competent authorities.

The conflict with Wydad takes on a new dimension

The situation deteriorated rapidly in recent days. Hakim Ziyech was first left out of the friendly match against Renaissance Zemamra, even though he was present and dressed to play. He was then excluded from the 28-player squad that went to continue Wydad’s preparations in Agadir.

The Moroccan had publicly identified the new president Ibrahim El Asri as responsible. “Go ask your president why he refused to let me play the match and why he prevented me from going to Agadir,” he notably responded on Instagram, before accusing the official of probably “lying” about the reasons for those decisions.

The conflict between Hakim Ziyech and Wydad’s new management stems in particular from the financial terms of his contract. The management wants to reduce the club’s expenses and has been seeking a solution for several weeks regarding a salary estimated at between 80 000 and 100 000 euros per month. Ziyech, for his part, intends to enforce the agreement reached when he joined.

The new management is now reportedly considering an amicable separation to prevent a contractual dispute from turning into legal proceedings.

The contrast with the situation at the beginning of August is significant. After a meeting with Ibrahim El Asri, Hakim Ziyech still appeared likely to remain at Wydad and even extend his contract. A few weeks later, he is no longer taking part in the training camp with his teammates and is now having a bailiff record the conditions under which the club is asking him to train.
