Netflix’s "Lonely Planet" Captivates Viewers with Moroccan Romance
"Lonely Planet". This is the title of the romantic film that has just been released on Netflix. Filmed in Morocco, the film production is already a sensation on the American platform.
The film tells the story of Katherine (Laura Dern), a successful novelist who has recently separated from her husband, who participates in a writers’ retreat in Marrakech, Morocco, where she hopes to find inspiration to finish writing a new novel, which she has been working on for two years.
On site, she meets Owen (Liam Hemsworth), a thirty-something financier who is accompanying his girlfriend, an author whose first novel is a bestseller. A friendship develops between the two protagonists who have learned to know and discover each other, and have ended up falling in love despite their age difference.
"Lonely Planet" is written and directed by Susannah Grant, an Oscar-nominated screenwriter for her film "Erin Brockovich". Like other romances released this year and featuring the story of an older woman and her younger lover, this film is part of this new trend in romantic films.
