Beloved Sète Local Figure Hakim Dies at 46, City Mourns ’Smiling Legend’

Deceased on Sunday, the body of Hakim, an emblematic figure of local life in Sète, will be repatriated to Morocco this Wednesday, December 28, where he will be buried next to his father.
Sète is in mourning. Hakim, 46, a well-known figure in the city, was the victim of a cerebral hemorrhage on Christmas Eve and died. The city thus loses a "bon vivant, a good guy always smiling". After this man from the Thau Island, the tributes multiply on social networks. "You leave us a great void"; "We will miss you"; "At first he could intrigue people who didn’t know him but he was a good fellow"; "You will remain our legend".
Hakim is known to have played for the FC Sète when he was younger. In 1993, his life changed following a tragic motorcycle accident. "He was in a coma for 9 months, recalls his brother Hassan, to Midi Libre. The doctors wanted to unplug him, but my father refused. And nine months later, he opened his eyes, started walking again. He’s a nice guy, he didn’t bother anyone, he was always calm and smiling, always happy when he saw children."
Hakim’s funeral will take place tomorrow in Morocco, where his body will be repatriated.
