Belgium Flights Morocco Cancelled Strike Today
A vast national strike paralyzes transport in Belgium this Tuesday, May 12. Charleroi and Brussels airports are cancelling numerous connections, inevitably blocking travellers who had planned to fly to Morocco.
Charleroi-Brussels-South airport, the country’s second largest hub, is completely at a standstill. The lack of personnel, following a call launched by three major unions (ABVV, ACV and ACLVB), prevents ensuring the safety of operations. Result: all departures and arrivals are simply cancelled.

This total paralysis hits hard the passengers who had booked tickets to Morocco from this heavily frequented hub. Management regrets this situation and assures that affected customers will be quickly contacted to obtain a refund or new booking.
Disruptions extend far beyond this infrastructure. The country’s main international airport is also preparing for a black day. According to a spokesperson cited by The Brussels Times, more than half of flights departing from Brussels could be cancelled. This drastic decision aims to guarantee the safety of maintained connections and limit endless queues. Airlines are currently reorganizing their schedules to directly inform travellers of the options available to them.

This social action, organized to demand better pensions, fairer taxation and wages indexed to inflation, will end around 2 p.m. in the capital. On the ground, the ordeal promises to be similar for public transport users. STIB/MIVB, which manages Brussels metros, buses and trams, hopes to maintain partial service. However, it recommends citizens to seek alternative solutions, such as cycling or carpooling, to travel during this major mobilization day.
