Charleroi Airport strike cancels all flights to Morocco

Due to strong union mobilization, Charleroi Airport announces the cancellation of all its flights on Tuesday, May 12. A complete shutdown that disrupts the travel plans of many passengers, including those heading to Morocco.

No aircraft will take off or land at Brussels South Charleroi Airport (BSCA). Faced with the scale of the social movement and staff shortages, management believes it cannot ensure operations safely. As a direct consequence, all connections, including departures to Moroccan cities, are cancelled. The airport specifies that airlines will contact affected customers in the coming days, while stating that it "regrets the impact of this national strike on our passengers’ travel plans".

This airspace blockade echoes a major demonstration organized in Brussels by a common union front. Workers are rising up against the federal coalition’s policies, criticizing attacks by the "Arizona government". Their demands remain unchanged for over a year: they denounce pressure on job seekers and sick people, declining purchasing power, threats to pensions, and the precariousness of working conditions. A widespread deterioration that occurs, according to strikers, "without the wealthy contributing more".
