Belgian Political Leaders Sammy Mahdi and Nawal Farih Announce Engagement

The president of the CD&V, Sammy Mahdi, announced his engagement to Nawal Farih, a federal deputy of Moroccan origin, on January 1.
The information was shared on Instagram, where he posted a black and white photo of the couple accompanied by an engagement ring. "Yes has never sounded so beautiful," he wrote.
Several personalities reacted to this announcement, including Nicole de Moor, Secretary of State for Asylum and Migration, who declared: "Fantastic news to start the year! Congratulations."
According to an interview given last year by Nawal Farih to Het Nieuwsblad, the couple formed in the summer of 2022. "Sammy’s friends claim, however, that he had a soft spot for me for much longer. I know very well that he has a desire for fatherhood. He sees becoming a father as a shared mission in which he wants to take on as much responsibility and care as I do. And I now say ’mission’, but I really mean that a child is a ’gift’. I also have a desire for a child, but I won’t put my career on hold all by myself when the time comes. Sammy will have to roll up his sleeves," she said.
