Belgian Party Leader Sammy Mahdi Confirms Engagement to Moroccan-Belgian Politician Nawal Farih

Sammy Mahdi posted a photo of himself and the deputy on Instagram with the caption "This is her" to indicate that she is the lucky one. The young minister had announced a few weeks ago that he has a fiancée, without revealing her identity. Now, it’s done.

Like him, his fiancée Nawal Farih is not unknown in the political world. Of Moroccan origin, she studied international trade and began her political career as a private secretary to former minister Jo Vandeurzen. Elected CD&V municipal councilor in the city of Genk in 2018, the Limburgian became a federal deputy a year later.

In the federal parliament, Farih defends the interests of her province to the best of her ability and is mainly involved in issues related to social security, employment, equal opportunities and poverty. The young woman has a hobby: dancing. She even participated in the Miss Sports election in 2007. In 2019, she had posted a video on TikTok in which she invited Mahdi to dance.

Sammy Mahdi is a well-known politician. Elected federal deputy to the House of Representatives in 2019, he was appointed Secretary of State for Asylum and Migration and in charge of the national lottery in 2020 under the De Croo government, before becoming president of his party, the CD&V, on June 25, 2022.
