Belgian National Strike Grounds Brussels Airlines Flights, Including Morocco Routes
The Belgian airline Brussels Airlines has just announced the cancellation of all its flights for Wednesday, February 13, with Morocco also affected.
In total, some 16,000 travelers will be affected, the company warns in a press release, due to a strike called by several unions demanding salary increases, higher retirement pensions and better working conditions.
"Brussels Airport therefore expects serious disruptions in airport operations with very likely numerous flight cancellations, significant delays, flights diverted from and to other airports, baggage issues, ... Public transport will also be heavily disrupted that day: trains, buses, trams..." the Brussels airport website writes.
Other airlines, including Royal Air Maroc, which also serve the kingdom from Belgium, could also be affected by this strike action that could paralyze a large part of Belgian airports. It is therefore advisable to check with your airline before going there.
