Belgian Man on Trial Admits to Killing Disabled Father, Cites Mental Health Struggles

Before the president of the assize court during the trial, Marwan Yahiaoui (24 years old) admits to having killed his father on December 23, 2017, but does not accept to be considered a dangerous boy.
Tossed between accounting, physical education and professional boxing studies, his curriculum is sewn with failures that end up putting him on the street. He has known drugs and depression and is currently in pretrial detention in Mons. He admits to having killed his disabled father with one hand and suffering from asthma, and justifies his act, reports 7sur7.
"Physically, I was fine but not psychologically." "I couldn’t find an effective solution to cure this malaise," narrates Marwan Yahiaoui.
The relationship with his father was not the best. The latter, not at all happy with his son’s academic failures, regularly beat him up, he says, adding "I was afraid of him." "I had resentment towards him."
Then came his parents’ divorce. As a result, he saw himself on the street. On December 23, around 1 p.m. "We discussed the house, I didn’t want him to sell it, but we didn’t agree. (...) I insulted him, he slapped me and I exploded" retraces Marwan who specifies: "I squeezed his neck, very hard, for about five minutes. He had no chance of making it, in my opinion," he details.
"My father made big mistakes but that doesn’t justify my gesture. It’s sad to have come to this," regrets the murderer on December 26, now in the hands of justice and who concludes: "I don’t consider myself a dangerous boy."
