Belgian Climate Minister Falsely Labeled as "Muslim Brotherhood" in Intelligence Report

Federal Minister of Climate, Zakia Khattabi, as well as her entire Ecolo party, are wrongly included among the 160 Belgians considered "Muslim Brotherhood" by a Swiss intelligence company that would have provided this erroneous information to the secret services of the United Arab Emirates.

The Swiss company Alp Services would have sent to the Emirati secret services a list of at least 1,000 people from 18 European countries, including 160 Belgians, and 400 organizations, presumed to be close to the "Muslim Brotherhood" between 2017 and 2020, revealed the European investigation team EIC composed among others of the newspaper Le Soir.

Federal Minister of Climate, Zakia Khattabi, as well as her entire Ecolo party, are on this rather vague list of convicted terrorists or fundamentalists. The official, of Moroccan origin, is wrongly presented as the vice-president of the Executive of Muslims of Belgium, a position she has never held. Also described as Shiite, the minister considers these allegations as "fanciful and false".

"Imagining that a state would have paid for this information would be funny if the situation were not serious: private companies are operating on European territory on behalf of foreign interests and do not hesitate to fabricate files from scratch," said Zakia Khattabi.

Unless there is a change, the Minister of Climate, as well as other Belgian political scientists such as Fouad Gandoul, Fatima Zibouh or Michaël Privot, who are on this list revealed by the "Abou Dhabi Secrets" investigation, should participate in the next COP 28, the international conference on climate change, scheduled for the end of the year in Dubai.
