Bayern Munich Retains Faith in Mazraoui Despite Post-World Cup Fitness Concerns

Since his injury and health issues due to Covid-19 towards the end of the 2022 Qatar World Cup, the playing time of Moroccan international Noussair Mazraou has been limited because he has not shown himself up to par during training sessions. However, Bayern Munich remains hopeful that he will shine again and does not intend to part with him this summer.
According to Kerry Hau, a journalist for Sport1 in Spain (via @iMiaSanMia), Thomas Tuchel and his coaching staff would be concerned that Noussair Mazraou is still suffering from physical fitness issues and that his level of performance has dropped despite the Moroccan defender’s abilities. According to the coaching staff, his level is not up to what it should be since he resumed training with the whole team and perhaps he says he is fitter than he really is. They believe the Moroccan international still has ground to make up if he wants to eventually supplant Pavard or Josip Stanisic in the starting lineup.
Despite the decline in form of their player, Bayern remains optimistic. It expects Mazraoui to play an important role in the club’s future and therefore does not consider "selling" the Atlas Lion, whose contract runs until June 2026, during the summer transfer window. According to Transfermarkt, the 25-year-old player’s market value is estimated at 28 million euros.
