The athlete, Douae Ouboukir, won the "Catalunya de Cross" (cross-country) Championship on Sunday. This race took place 30 kilometers from Barcelona.
The 23-year-old Moroccan ran barefoot, like the Ethiopian, Abebe Bikila, marathon legend. He had won the gold medal at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, without shoes.
The Moroccan arrived in Spain at the age of 12 with her family. She is part of the Sant Just Athletics Club (Barcelona), and is a specialist in the 3000m steeplechase and the 10km road race.
Last November, she had already won the Girone race.
