Barcelona Activates Buyback Clause for Rising Star Chadi Riad

With an eye on the future, FC Barcelona has decided to reactivate the buyback clause for defender Chadi Riad, currently on loan at Betis where he is making a sensation.
The young Moroccan player, whose return is scheduled for June, is seen as a strategic investment to strengthen the Catalan club’s first team, promising to consolidate its defense with one of the brightest talents of his generation, writes Sport.es.
Last summer, Riad had to leave Barça, for lack of playing time, following the arrival of new defenders. His stay at Betis, under the direction of Ramon Planes, turned out to be a revelation. Taking advantage of every opportunity, the young defender has quickly climbed the ranks to become indispensable today and caught the eye of several major European clubs.
Financially, the deal seems particularly advantageous for Barça. With a buyback cost set at 7 million euros, after Betis spent 3.5 million for the purchase option, the Catalan club is about to recover a player whose value far exceeds this investment. Buoyed by his performances in La Liga and the Copa del Rey, Riad has demonstrated a versatility and maturity that exceed his young age.
