’Badoo Killers’ Trial: Couple Faces Decade in Prison for Kidnapping and Torture in Spain

This Monday, a third trial opened in the Zaragoza court against the Moroccan Mohamed Achraf and his Venezuelan wife, Hedangeline Candy Arrieta, better known as the "Badoo killers". The prosecution has requested 10 years and 9 months in prison against the couple for having kidnapped and tortured a resident of Tudela (Navarre) in 2019.
The man explained to the court that he had met the young Venezuelan woman on the social network Badoo and that they had made an appointment at the Luceni train station on September 4, 2019. "When I got off the train, there was only the girl. We greeted each other and went to her car. But a few seconds later, I was attacked from behind. When I turned around, I saw a man with a wrench in his hand..." recounts the victim.

The man tried to escape, but was prevented by Mohamed Achraf. "We fell into a dry well, and the girl went down with a gun she pointed at me, telling me: ’Either you stay calm or I’ll kill you,’" he remembers. And to add: "They tied me up like an animal, hands and feet tied behind my back. They also covered my head with a cloth bag." The victim was then thrown into the trunk of a car before being released two hours later.
But before that, they had stripped him of all the money he had on him. The Venezuelan woman denied the facts, as she did during the trial for the murder of the computer scientist from Guecho, claiming to be a "slave" of the Moroccan. But the victim identified them as his attackers. The hearing continues on Tuesday.
