Bad news at the pump in Morocco: diesel rises by 65 centimes and nears 15 DH

The new price schedule brings a 0.65-dirham increase per litre of diesel. Depending on the stations and cities, its price is thus approaching the symbolic 15-dirham mark.

Petrol, on the other hand, is benefiting from a decrease of around 30 centimes per litre. The two fuels are therefore following opposite trajectories this time.

However, prices are not identical throughout the Kingdom. Since price liberalization, they have varied according to distributors, cities and, in particular, transport costs.

Diesel rises sharply again

This new increase comes after several particularly turbulent months. On July 1, diesel had benefited from a sharp decrease of 96 centimes, falling to around 12.61 dirhams per litre in readings taken in Casablanca. Two weeks later, on July 16, it had already regained around 69 centimes, returning to approximately 13.30 dirhams.

A much larger increase, potentially reaching around two dirhams per litre, had subsequently been mentioned for the beginning of August. It was ultimately not applied on August 1.

The movement observed in mid-August is therefore different: diesel is rising again by 65 centimes, while petrol is falling by 30 centimes. For a 50-litre tank of diesel, this increase alone represents approximately 32.50 additional dirhams.
