Morocco Fuel Prices: Petrol and Diesel Could Rise by Up to 3 Dirhams

Moroccan motorists should prepare for a sharp increase in fuel prices. Diesel could rise by up to 3 dirhams per liter and petrol by around 2.50 dirhams, pushing prices above the 16-dirham mark at some stations.

Service station operators were awaiting the new pricing schedule on Friday evening, applicable from August. According to initial information gathered from industry professionals, the increase would be significantly greater than the usual adjustments.

The price of diesel could rise by 2 to 3 dirhams per liter. For petrol, the expected increase would reach around 2.50 dirhams, reports Hespress.

Up to 150 dirhams more per tank

For a motorist filling a 50-liter tank, the additional cost would reach between 100 and 150 dirhams for diesel and around 125 dirhams for petrol.

Industry professionals do not yet know whether this increase will be applied in full at the beginning of August or spread over two successive revisions. The final pricing schedule must also clarify the differences between distributors and cities.

If the announced amounts are confirmed, the price per liter could exceed 16 dirhams at several stations across the Kingdom. This new increase would come only a few weeks after the mid-July rise, which added 70 centimes to diesel and 38 centimes to petrol.
