Automobile: Morocco will produce the future rival of the Dacia Duster

This is a major industrial victory for the Kingdom. The next generation of the Citroën C4 will be assembled in Morocco, in the Stellantis plant in Kénitra. While the current model, produced in Madrid, will continue until 2029, its replacement will mark a complete stylistic break to directly challenge the king of the market: the Dacia Duster.

The Stellantis group has decided to transfer the production of the future C4 from Spain to Morocco. This new model will be based on the "Smart Car" platform, already used for the C3, and its industrialization in Kénitra will begin as early as 2026.

Forget the compact sedan you know. The fourth version of the C4 will undergo a spectacular transformation to become a true affordable SUV. It will be 70% derived from the "Oli" concept car presented in 2022, with an angular and bold design. The objective is clear: to reposition Citroën as the entry-level brand of the group capable of competing with the insolent success of Dacia.

However, patience will be required before seeing this vehicle come off the Moroccan production lines. Stellantis has chosen to extend the life of the current Spanish C4 by one year, postponing its replacement to 2029. A strategic decision linked to the slowdown in the electric vehicle market, which is pushing the manufacturer to make its existing thermal and hybrid models profitable before launching its new offensive from Morocco.
