Arsenal’s Thomas Partey Confirms Conversion to Islam, Cites Girlfriend’s Influence

Thomas Partey, Ghanaian international and Arsenal midfielder, confirms having converted to Islam and reveals what motivated him to make this decision.
Arsenal’s chief journalist in London, Chris Wheatley, had announced in March the conversion to Islam of Thomas Partey through a post on his Facebook page with an image of the Ghanaian international posing joyfully alongside an imam and holding a Quran. The Arsenal midfielder has recently confirmed the information.
"I am now a Muslim and I converted because of my girlfriend whom I love very much. My Muslim name is Yakubu," said the Arsenal star to Ghanaian journalist Nana Aba Anamoah. His girlfriend is a Moroccan named Sarah Bella, a radiologist working at the Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology.
Last May, Sarah Bella had posted two videos of herself and the Ghanaian midfielder having fun during an Arsenal match. The two lovebirds have also been seen in a car savoring the song "love nwantiti" by Nigerian singer CKay, reported Ghanaweb.
