Anne Hidalgo’s 20 trips abroad in 2025, including one to Morocco, all in business class
The travel habits and representation expenses of the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, are the subject of new revelations. An investigative media outlet details the cost of her numerous trips, including a trip to Morocco, and her clothing expenses.
According to Mediapart, Anne Hidalgo has made about twenty trips abroad since January 2025, traveling to almost all continents. The list includes visits to Poland, the United States, Kenya, Vietnam, and also to Morocco last February.
These trips are part of the "international influence" of Paris, according to her first deputy. The mayor’s entourage had also assured Le Parisien that "inexpensive" solutions were being sought to reduce the bill. However, Mediapart’s revelations indicate that the mayor travels "systematically in business class". The City of Paris justifies this choice by "security conditions". Mediapart notes that this practice contradicts the declarations of the city’s ethics officer in 2017, who claimed that she did not use first class.
84,200 euros in representation expenses
Mediapart’s investigation is not limited to travel and has also looked into the mayor’s expense reports. Between 2020 and 2024, Anne Hidalgo would have devoted around 84,200 euros to her representation expenses, largely for the purchase of clothing.
The list of purchases includes notable luxury items. These include two Dior dresses purchased in 2024 for 6,320 euros, a Burberry coat for 3,067 euros in 2023, or a Dior blouse and a Burberry jacket for more than 1,000 euros each in 2020 and 2021. The investigative media specifies that more affordable outfits, purchased from brands such as Gérard Darel or Repetto, are added to these expenses, with bills often ranging between 500 and 1,000 euros.
