Angers’ World Cup Star Boufal Nears Exit as Transfer Deadline Looms

Moroccan international Sofiane Boufal, who currently plays for SCO Angers, could soon change clubs. Absent against Brest on Sunday, his departure is not excluded before the end of the transfer window scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, January 31.
The Moroccan attacking midfielder was one of the main architects of the Atlas Lions’ run at the 2022 World Cup. Since then, he has been the target of several clubs, particularly in the Middle East. The president of SCO Angers, Saïd Chabane, had already hinted that his players Boufal and Ounahi were on their way out. An option that does not displease the player, as he has also expressed his desire to take on other challenges.
With just hours to go before the end of the transfer window, the player’s departure seems to be taking shape. On Sunday, during the championship match against Brest’s Achraf Dari, Boufal was not included in the Angers squad.
Questioned, the Franco-Moroccan coach of the Black and Whites, Abdelaziz Bouhazama, indicated that the Lion of the Atlas could soon leave the club without however giving details on his new destination. "He may leave us. We don’t take any risks. I prefer to have players at 100%," he said.
