Amine the Conqueror Faces Racist Hate for Sharing French Castle History
Passionate about castles, content creator Amine popularizes French history on social media. But his origins have led to filming refusals and daily death threats, which he combats with his community’s support.
Armed with his drone, Amine flies over castles to tell their secrets with a child’s perspective. This self-taught enthusiast doesn’t hesitate to compare a dismantlable canopy bed to Ikea furniture. But his approach disturbs some. Several establishments refuse him access because of his first name and Muslim faith. He notably recounts how a communications department brutally cancelled a visit, despite enthusiastic approval from reception staff, upon discovering his identity.

The attacks go beyond administrative boundaries. In a testimony relayed by Kombini, the videographer explains that he suffers daily death threats and targeted racist insults. His harassers accuse him of appropriating the national narrative and demand he return to his country. His pseudonym choice, "Amine the Conqueror," a simple historical reference, is even perceived as an aggression by his detractors, furious to see a Maghrebi telling the story of kings.
After the initial misunderstanding, the young man decided to fight back. He now captures and publicly shares the worst messages received to break the sense of impunity of their authors. Above all, he can count on massive mobilization from his followers. This formidable force recently managed to take down a harasser’s Instagram account in less than 24 hours through a reporting campaign.

These ordeals don’t dampen his determination to democratize culture. Amine wants to prove to villagers and those from disadvantaged neighborhoods that the doors of historical monuments are wide open to them. He proudly claims his nationality and refuses to be excluded from the collective narrative. "It’s our history, it belongs to us," he asserts, determined to continue exploring France’s heritage, his country.
