Ambush in Tangier: A motorist dragged on the asphalt to save his car

A violent car theft attempt was thwarted in Tangier on the second day of Eid al-Fitr. The police arrested a suspect in possession of drugs, while the victim, dragged on the road, was hospitalized.
The incident took place in the early hours of the morning on Avenue d’Arabie Saoudite, in the Beni Makada district. Two individuals simulated a request for help to trap a motorist before attempting to seize his vehicle by force.

Refusing to give in, the driver clung to his car to prevent the theft. This resistance earned him being dragged on the asphalt, sustaining injuries that required his urgent transfer to the hospital for treatment.
The drama was narrowly averted thanks to the intervention of a police patrol on routine patrol. The agents apprehended one of the assailants on the spot, while his accomplice managed to flee and is still actively sought by the investigators.

The search of the arrested suspect led to the seizure of cocaine doses packaged for resale. The preliminary investigation also indicates that the vehicle used by the criminals would be stolen and registered in the name of a woman.
