Amazon Invests $10 Million to Expand Operations in Morocco

Some 100 million dirhams are being injected by Amazon, the world’s largest listed company, into its Moroccan subsidiary, Amazon Support Services.
This major investment is part of a recapitalization that increases the capital to 23.2 million dirhams (including a share premium of 99 million dirhams).
According to challenge.ma, the objective of this operation is to strengthen the financial resources of this Moroccan entity, which is preparing to inaugurate a customer service center with several hundred positions at the Technopolis Rabat.
The same media recalls that massive recruitment is underway. This operation by Amazon, the same source continues, aims to have, at its launch, around a hundred call center agents trained in telephone assistance and perfectly bilingual (excellent command of Italian and French in writing and orally).
Amazon does not intend to stop at this workforce. It plans to at least quadruple the number of employees, concludes the same media.
It should be remembered that Amazon became in 2019 the most expensive private company in the world, overtaking Microsoft in first place on Wall Street with a market capitalization that now reaches $860 billion (nearly 8,300 billion dirhams, or more than 7 times Morocco’s GDP!).
