Morocco’s Film Industry Booms: Foreign Productions Invest $69 Million in 8 Months

No less than 100 foreign productions were filmed in Morocco from January 1 to August 31, 2019, equivalent to some 667 million dirhams in investments.
The "Morocco" destination allows for considerable financial resources to be generated. At the end of the first eight months of the current year, the total amount of investment from foreign productions, more precisely, 19 feature films and 12 television series, reached 667 million dirhams, according to data from the Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM).
For the CCM, this amount marks 91% of the total investment in 2018, and also represents a 50% increase compared to the investment of foreign production in Morocco as of August 31, 2018 (445 million dirhams).
This increase is explained by several factors, including the very first filming of an entire season of the series "Homeland", produced by the American company, Fox 21, in the Kingdom.
