Algeria’s World Cup Dreams: Fennecs Return to Morocco for Crucial Guinea Clash

The Algerian football team will soon travel to Morocco to face Guinea, as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. This will be the first time the Fennecs have set foot on Moroccan soil since September 7, 2021.
The Vladimir Petkovic team will travel to Morocco in September where they will cross crampons with the Guinean team for the eighth round. The match will take place at the Mohammed V Complex in Casablanca, according to an official statement from the Guinean Football Federation.
In the first leg, the Fennecs had lost to Guinea (1-2) at home, during the third round. In case of victory in Morocco in the return match, Amine Gouri and his teammates, already at the top of Group G, will get closer to direct qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
This will be the first time the Algerian national team has played in Morocco since September 7, 2021, the date on which they had faced Burkina Faso at the Grand Stade de Marrakech, as part of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. The Greens, then led by Djamel Belmadi, had conceded a draw (1-1).
