Algeria Suspends Travel Agency Ties with Spain Amid Western Sahara Dispute

Algeria has ordered its travel agencies to suspend their relations with Spain. The decision follows the announcement of the upcoming holding in Dakhla of the first Morocco-Spain forum to promote investment in this Saharan city.
Algeria’s decision is a consequence of the organization of this first investment forum in Dakhla, which is expected to be attended by more than a hundred Spanish businessmen, informs the public television channel Alg24.

Algeria suspended the treaty of friendship with Spain on June 8, in reaction to Pedro Sanchez’s change of position on the Sahara, deemed "unjustifiable" and "contrary to international law" by the Algerian authorities.

On the same day, the Spanish Prime Minister defended before Congress that "the Moroccan autonomy plan is the most serious, credible and realistic basis" to resolve this conflict in the Sahara "which has lasted too long".
