Algeria Coach Belmadi Praises Morocco’s World Cup Success, Regragui’s Leadership

Three months after the World Cup in Qatar, Djamel Belmadi, the coach of the Algerian national team, expressed his admiration for his Moroccan counterpart Walid Regragui, for having led the Atlas Lions to the semi-finals of the tournament.
"I take my hat off to the players of the Moroccan national team as well as the technical staff and their head Walid Regragui for their performances at the World Cup. That’s why I voted for him and Bounou in goal for the The Best awards," Belmadi said during a press conference announcing the next gathering of the Fennecs.
The Algerian football team has a double confrontation against Niger as part of the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2023 postponed to January 2024). Unlike Morocco, Algeria did not have the chance to qualify for the World Cup. The Fennecs were eliminated at home by Cameroon in the last playoff match. Despite the controversy over the refereeing, FIFA maintained the results of the match, thus allowing Cameroon to qualify for Qatar.
