Algeria Bans Moroccan Flag at Women’s Champions League Qualifier, Defying CAF Rules

The Algerian Football Federation has banned the display of the Moroccan flag during the UNAF tournament counting towards the qualifications for the final phase of the CAF Women’s Champions League, which is taking place in Algeria from August 24 to 30, thus violating the rules of the continental body.
Algeria continues to mix politics and sports. The Algerian Federation has chosen to disregard the CAF rules by prohibiting the hoisting of the Moroccan flag during the match between the women’s club of AS FAR and the Algerian women’s club Akbou, during the CAF Women’s Champions League. A match that ended in a large victory for the Moroccans with a score of four goals to zero.
This hostile behavior of Algeria towards Morocco should not go unpunished, say some observers who call on the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) to file a complaint against the Algerian Federation with CAF for non-compliance with the regulations of the continental football body and the basic principles of sports competition.
