Algeria Accused of Orchestrating Anti-Moroccan Campaign in Spain Amid Sahara Dispute

The specialist on the Sahara issue and Maghreb affairs, Ahmed Noureddine, makes serious accusations against Algeria. It would be the instigator of the wave of hostility towards Moroccans residing in Spain.
This campaign constitutes a stage of escalation on the part of Algeria after the failure of all its previous attempts to dissuade Madrid from its historical position of support for the autonomy plan in the Moroccan Sahara, explains Ahmed Noureddine, recalling that the Algerian regime had already tried before to put pressure by using the card of gas and oil, had raised the threat of freezing trade agreements, going as far as suspending the partnership, cooperation and good neighborliness treaty.
Noureddine points out that all these maneuvers have failed to influence the sovereign position of Spain, led by Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, indicates al3omK. After its diplomatic defeat, the Algerian regime has turned to an attempt to normalize relations with Madrid, the analyst believes. A flagrant contradiction with its previous positions where it had sworn that relations would not resume until the departure of Sánchez or a turnaround of Spain on its support for Morocco. He is convinced that the motivations of the Algerian regime are to undermine the positive atmosphere surrounding the joint preparations for the organization of the 2030 World Cup.
This reaction from Noureddine follows a publication by former deputy Brahim Daïf, in which he attributed the wave of hostility towards Moroccans, following the broadcast of an allegedly falsified video, to a "Zionist plan" aimed at reversing Spanish sympathy for the Palestinian cause. The analyst dismisses this hypothesis. He calls not to look for responsible parties elsewhere. He is convinced that it is Algiers that is the instigator. What particularly bothers the Algerian regime is the positive and exemplary image that the Moroccan community has conveyed through its broad solidarity with the Spanish people during the floods in Valencia in November 2024, he adds.
And to continue: "this widely acclaimed solidarity has helped to dispel the negative stereotypes inherited from the Andalusian era, but Algerian propaganda has tried to revive it against the backdrop of the conflict in the Sahara."
