Airports in Morocco: The emergency plan for accessibility for people with disabilities unveiled

Responding to a parliamentary question, the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh, detailed the initiative. This comprehensive assistance applies in accordance with the decree of May 2023, which rigorously regulates the rights of people with reduced mobility in the air transport sector.

In coordination with various local stakeholders, a continuous evaluation of the infrastructure is being carried out. The airports already have dedicated check-in circuits, adapted information desks, specific sanitary facilities, and parking lots with clear signage to facilitate each journey.

In addition to the provision of wheelchairs and specialized equipment for boarding, the privileged treatment of these passengers is paramount. "The principle of priority is adopted [...] with the constant concern of raising human resources awareness of the importance of the services provided," the minister stressed.

The validated technical study recommends the rapid integration of innovative digital solutions to simplify orientation in the terminals. It also recommends a better configuration of the parking areas and a smoother flow of the paths directly connecting the vehicles to the check-in counters.
