Morocco: 42 billion for XXL airports

Abdessamad Kayouh, Minister of Transport and Logistics, presented this investment plan before the House of Representatives, recalling the importance of the air transport sector to the country’s economy and the efforts already made to improve the sector’s performance and reduce ticket prices.

Casablanca airport, the country’s main airport, will have its capacity increased to 44 million passengers per year. A new terminal will be built at Rabat-Salé to accommodate 4 million passengers. The airports of Fès, Tanger and Agadir will also be expanded and modernized. Marrakech will benefit from major expansion works to reach a capacity of 16 million passengers.

The government also plans to support the development of Royal Air Maroc by helping it modernize its fleet. The objective is to strengthen the competitiveness of the national airline and enable it to meet growing demand for air transport.
